Our Wines

The Estate Vineyard was first established in 1989. These vines have an idyllic life located along the western edges of Calistoga at the base of the mountain. Situated on bale loam, the soil is speckled with shards of obsidian, which gives us a hint of its volcanic origins.

A window into the palette of the Napa Valley. The Cellar Select is a barrel selected blend highlighting the distinct characteristics of our vineyards. A wine that is embedded with harmony, we assess every vintage individually to see where the ultimate expression lies within the confines of our cave.

The event known as the diurnal effect is at its strongest with our Dry Creek Valley offering of Zinfandel. The warm days & cool nights provide us with an intensity of brambly flavors that are the hallmark of the varietal in this region.

Dry farmed Zinfandel from a multi-generational Napa Valley grower just a stone’s throw away from Joseph Cellars. A special site that showcases the history and essence of Calistoga through a century of family farming.

Grown upon the terraces in Diamond Mountain. The pedigree of this vineyard is unlike most found in the region. These old vines, with their roots running deep into the well drained and dusty volcanic soil, have a sense of aristocracy to them. The resulting wine produces an heirloom like quality in its aromatics and flavor.

Entrenched in the lingering morning fog of the eminent Oak Knoll District of the Napa Valley. The cool, misty mornings combined with the silty clay loam soil from which the vines are reared provide an idyllic canvas for the Merlot varietal here in the Napa Valley.

For many, the Russian River Valley is the heartland of Pinot Noir in the New World. We are blessed to be able to work with pristine and meticulously farmed vineyards. Our Pinot Noir hails from what we consider to be the “bullseye” within the appellation. Found in the gently rolling hills and planted to a cornucopia of clones, our rendition is a truth-full composite of its environment

Our 2023 Voyage red wine blend is crafted from select vineyards in the Dry Creek Valley. Cave aged in primarily Hungarian Oak, the finished wine evokes harmony in the glass. Rich, fruit driven, polished. Voyage is a wine to savor at every given opportunity.

Wine is about the relationship between the land and its people. The amorous relationships we have with our growers have led us into unique settings. One of these settings is represented in our Sangiovese. Found outside the doorstep of our grower, these vines straddle the steep slopes of the eastern hills in the Dry Creek Valley. The volcanic and iron-rich soil helps the vines retain the electric verve found in this selection

A varietal with a long and storied history in California viticulture, with its first plantings dating back to the 1880s. Inspired by the Italian immigrants who settled in Sonoma County over 100 years ago, we have allowed the varietal to speak for itself with its own lingua madre. The result is a wine that leaps from the glass with a bounty of fruit and a raciness expression.

A rarity in the world of viticulture is finding a vineyard where the vines are own-rooted. It requires a unique setting in which the vines are allowed to be in their natural state. We are fortunate to work with such a vineyard in Alisos Canyon—a region highlighted by a diverse blend of sandy soils engulfed by a transverse mountain range. Blanketed daily with morning fog and the chill of the ocean air, this unique micro-climate often pushes the growing season into November.

Once a widely planted varietal in the Napa Valley, it is now limited to a handful of remaining vineyards. A true “rare” wine with less than 100 acres surviving in the state of California. Old vine, dry farmed, and head trained, these gnarly vines harken back to a bygone era of Napa Valley viticulture.

Planted along the valley floor, the warmth of this part of the Napa Valley is what makes Petit Verdot excel. A varietal that loves to sunbathe, the vines coast through the harvest season with ease. Our rendition is an impactful wine, full of flavor provided by all those hours entrenched in the glow of the harvest sun overhead.

Fermented & aged for approximately 10 months in a 50/50 mix of concrete and French oak. A light kiss of new oak is added to give a touch of spice and character. The result is a Chardonnay that leaps from the glass with tropical notes underlined by a weighty and seductively textural experience

Focused & minerality driven. Our Carneros Chardonnay hails from the fog drenched rolling hills of southern Napa Valley. Mouthwatering intensity with classic citrus zest character. Balanced by the introduction of concrete and a gentle nod of French Oak to provide added depth. A Chardonnay for The Thinker, one to assist you in your nightly inner pontifications.

With the third entry in our playing card series, we have chosen to honor our beloved Bodie. Our good boy, who never missed a chance to bask in the love he would find himself in amidst his adventures through the winery. A hound with the keenest sense of smell, Bodie was the Chief Inspector, and the final say in all corks popped within the winery. With that, we present a wine that encapsulates the valley floor of the Napa Valley. A thunderously bold wine with depth and richness only matched by the deep, beckoning baying of our enshrined best friend.

First vinified by the Romans, who referred to the wine as vinum apianum. The origins of which were a gentle nod to the fragrant & honeyed aromatics that attracted bees to its ripened fruit. This limited offering hails from 2800 ft above sea level in the El Dorado AVA of the Sierra Nevada. Our rendition has shown potential for current enjoyment as well as benefitting from additional cellaring.

Made from estate-grown Cabernet grapes, Cento undergoes a unique fermentation process where whole clusters are carefully placed in oak barrels. This technique allows the wine to macerate on the skins for an impressive 100 days, a period that imparts deep, complex flavors and a rich, bold texture. After this extended maceration, the grapes are pressed, and the wine returns to the barrels to continue its maturation. This process not only enhances the wine’s flavor profile but also contributes to its remarkable depth and character. Cento Cabernet Sauvignon offers a strikingly bold and unique taste experience, showcasing rich, layered flavors and a robust texture. It’s a wine that stands out for its craftsmanship and the innovative approach behind its creation.
